we don't need rest!!
Figured it was legal to ask and not submit a tune...

anywazz....what are the best current mp3 players (ala free) currently available? I use Winamp now(mainly for nowhereradio)...but IT always crashes my computer, freezes up...all that gooky stuff. I liked the Windows Media player....never any flaws, but much of the stuff I listen to is at Waldo's site, and some tunes are apparently not geared for the Media Player. Plus, Winamp seems to default all my little icons on my files, so it is really a pain to tell the pk. files, .wav files, mp3 files, etc. from one another at a visual glance. I've used the Real Player too...same kinda default problems too. So...what are some good suggestions? Plus, I want to still have my Sound forge files LOOK like SF files, mp3 files with their icon... and I've tried checking, unchecking default boxes when installing...and that never really seems to REALLY work. Realplayer is a damn conqueror of file ownership....! Hopefully I'm not showing my computer limits!

I have an older version of musicmatch(which i find to be the best mp3 player) I like the older version because it doesnt have any popup stuff... I could put it on the server for DL if you want

I second the older Music Match,I used to have it and tried to get another copy from the Music Match site, they didn't get back to me.

JMarcomb,
It would be great if you could post it,I have the same problem as mix,I only have WMP.

mix,
Hope you don't mind me chiming in here.

"Hopefully I'm not showing my computer limits!"

Don't feel too bad,I still have Windows 95,233 megehertz, and it takes me 45 minutes to download an mp3!(forget about uploading,I can go to bed and mabey it's done when I wake up.)

Best to you,
Pete

that's all I have too, 'cept I have a cable modem. I upgraded to W98 back when, but it crashed a bunch (even with a clean install), so I went back to 95 and it's served me fine ever since. Computer types just give me the weird eyeball...Win95??...ha!!

I 2nd the musicmatch d/l

thanks guys...

I use Music Match as well. I actually went and bought it from the store after trying the free version... It is much better than using the free version. I payed $25 beans for it, and it has worked great for me... When I installed it, I made sure I did the 'custom installation'... It is only used to play and rip mp3's.... and burn cd's..

I do upgrade, but when your using the unfree version, there are no pop ups or annoying messages...

One more thing mixmkr, I asked you a question in your other thread and you didnt answer me.. This is not the first time either.......now I will stop asking you questions, it seems you dont want to answer them...

ah...but I answered a day before you posted your above remark.......go look, friend.

Hopefully it was an answer to a question you asked!!

Now...set your beer down, and have another bong:cool:

JMarcomb,
I tried your link, got this error page,

http://www.earthlink.net/error/404.html

I'd really like to have a copy, mabey you could send it e-mail?

Mix,
I have been looking into optimum online,(that's all that's avalibile by me),but they say you need to have an original version of windows 98 on the computer.

The problems you were encountering with 98,do you think it was because of the computers size?

They said I can also use an ethernet card, probably cheaper and safer,if I can figure out how to install it!

Best to you,
Pete

muze

I took it down because I was running out of space on Earthlink..
Im setting up a server at home and should have it up shortly as soon as I get Nimda virus off of it.. :( She's a mean one.

Anybody that still needs Musicmatch let me know and you can FTP to me.

Another vote for musicmatch. It's just really easy to use and it comes with ripping ability. And it's free.

I have a pentium 120! I upgraded straight from win 95 to win2k Pro and it runs much more stable.

hey mixmkr,

How about you use either/or/any?

NWR now supports EVERY major player, and about 2,000 others... I sold some gear to pay for the windows media server + os, better be happy with it.

Hey Waldo,

I have to say, that was darn nice of you,the least I can do is sign up for your unlimited space program.
(It's a great deal at $2.50 a month!)

Best to you,
Pete

Yeah, now I just need 120 people signed up for 6mo. each to pay off the server! (Or you could pay for 720 months ;) )

I'll have to ask the boss about that one!

(She's 4'11" and 90 pounds,but she's still the boss!)
