How does someone go about monitoring one track while recording another through a Yamaha MG 10/2 without having that first track also being recorded onto the second track? I guess what I'm asking is how do other people monitor previously recorded tracks while recording a new track.

Is it possible to do this with the Yamaha MG 10/2?

I'm using a Delta 1010LT.

Right now I'm recording one track at a time and trying to play along with this track while laying down another. I have not looked at the schematics for the mixer but I'm guessing it's just a single bus for all the inputs.

I was just wondering how everyone else listens to previous tracks while recording another. If all else fails I'll just run the output to another device that I can plug my headphones into.

Does anyone know of a device that has a volume control and multiple headphone connections. (Just in case I have someone else listening and playing along on another mic.)

After adding a new piece of equipment I'm finding the need for something else. Will I ever come to a happy medium?

Thanks for the info; I'm already envisioning the headphone mixer on my desk.
