Tiny Stonehenge Moment
Everybody knows Wayne's World and the "No Stairway.... denied!!" scene. I got to thinking "What's the new 'Stairway To Heaven'? " What is the song that's played incessantly in guitar shops such that the staff want to pick up a BC Rich or similar pointy, heavy object and bludgeon the customer to death.

My vote would be for "Sweet Child O'Mine". :)

Donknow. But in my world it was 'Stairway To Free Bird'

Oh and BTW, my wife will needing a $20 for 'Moondance
:)

Just the intro to Crazy train is another one I hear constantly...over...and over...and over again!

I wouldnt necessarily say a specific song, but instead, walking into a music store and having some kid play loud, obnoxious, distorted music that has no beginning, ending, form, function, melody or semblence of any particular song. Just made up noise, and typically not even in tune either. What I like to do then is pickup an accoustic, sit nearby and play some neo classical, like a Malmsteen intro such as "I am a viking" nice and clean.. and then smirk and walk away. I once told a salesman, I'll give you $5.00 if you tell that kid over there to turn off that crap because his guitar isnt even in tune and he obviously has no musical talent. The salesman started laughing... I understand that everyone starts somewhere, but why not learn the instrument before deciding to turn up the volume to distorted ear bleed levels?

Snobby geezer ^^^^^^^^

Panter's "Walk" is common piece of shit riff played by metal wannabe dorks. Lots of people try "Eruption" and the intro to "Aint Talking Bout Love" too. I'm in the guitar shops all the time, and I don't hear much riff-based rock like GnR or Aerosmith anymore. Not that I want to either, but with Slash's popularity being higher than ever, you'd think more people would give him a try. It's all palm mutes and shred. Some of them are very good players, it's just not good music.

I was talking to one of my mates in the US today and he told me about one guy in Guitar Centre who plugged into a 100w JCM 900, turned it up stupidly loud and just hit a massive "E" chord. Don't know what song it was from but my mate soiled himself with fright.

Sounds awesome! :laughings:

sounds like the beginning of back to the future.

my vote would be for young dudes shredding but sounding like garbage, and old guys who think they're stevie ray vaughn but aren't.

My nearest music shop had a sign up banning people from playing certain obvious songs 'Paranoid, Sandman, Stairway'. Quite amusing.
