I need major help, as I am truly stumped.

Here is my system.

I have a computer with a terratech EWS88d sound card. I am running Cubase sx on it. I have a Yamaha 01v digi mixer, which I am connected to the computer via midi. Cubase is the master, and things are set up nice.

However, I have no sound. I have 2 older JBL studio monitors. my dad used to use them for his home stereo, now passes them to me since i got taken buying monitors second hand. Here is how I connected the moniotrs.

I took 2 digital coxial rca plugs, and plugged one set to the input of the sound card and the Digital stereo coxial out in the 01v (did the oppisite to the other cable). Out of the monitor outs on the 01v, i took a mono to mono dual cable and pulgged it to the back of my qsc amplifier. the speakers connected to the amp. now sound should come out, right?

My mixer reads that the digital outs are being used, since I switched them and it told me that the signal was crossed. I can put my fingers over the mono to mono plugs, plugged fro the mixer to amp, and 'noise' comes out of the speakers. so i am worndering if anyone can help me with this...it would be a HUGE help...thanks.

Make sure that you can get sound from the mixer to monitors by using a mic or cd player or something. If you can hear something then the problem has to do with the routing of the digital input on the Yami. You may have to assign that digital input to a channel or buss.

awesome idea

good idea! i just tried it and it does happen to work. so the problem lies between my computer and the mixer. i am guessing it has something to do with

a)sound card

b) cubase sx settings
