No Sound from Windows Media player

when I record in audition 2.0 through my M-Audio fast track pro and play it back I can hear the sound out of my monitors. but when I try to play a song off of my desktop in Windows media player..I hear nothing...

what can I do??

Have you made the Fast Track the default sound card for Windows?

Im not sure how would i find that out...my friend set it up for me
