I am having a problem with my KRK Rokit 5 monitors not providing sound. They are on and lights are on, so fuses can't have been blown. I have an Emu 1212 sound card with 1/4" jacks. I have checked the system for all drivers on EVERYTHING, and all says they're working correctly. I have never had this problem in the past; however, today I did just hook my computer back up from a year of inactivity. I am operating on Windows 7 64 Bit. I'd appreciate any advise any of you may have. Thank you.

First check that the speakers are actually working. Unplug from the Emu end and hold the cable in one hand by the insulation. Now touch the tip of the plug with a finger. You should get some sort of buzz from the speakers. N.B you might have to advance the Rokit's VC to do this but do it in stages.

Assuming this "wet finger test" is successful, look at the Win 7 sound menu and make sure the Emu's output (prob' OP 1 &2) is listed and the default. Check level is around 50% but this might need fettling later.

If all is ok so far you will need to get into the 1212's routing system. I don't have one but plenty have said it is a bitch! We have an Emu owner on the strength.......Where be you chap?

Dave.

A couple of obvious checks:

1 Make sure the jacks are plugged into the 'out' sockets of the card.

2 Check that your system is still recognizing the Emu as an output device.

Ecc83-- I have performed "finger test" and all is good. I have went into Windows sound area again and still shows Emu is the default sound device. It didn't have many options for changing anything in it, so I am at a lost as what to do in that regard. I'm not that savvy as to get into the Emu to check it (had it all installed years ago at once). I am in California.

Gecko-- I have checked that they are indeed in the 'OUT' jack slots and the system DOES recognize the Emu as the output device.

I'm not going to lie, I am at a loss as to what to do still.

Ecc83-- I just got into the Emu device and it shows-- Mon I/O Card Out 1/2-- as the output; in green (I assume that's for "good"). Don't know what to do from here.

Hi,
were you using windows 7 when the system worked in the past?
This page should give you the correct driver versions.

Is there any custom software/mixer with the Emu (patch mix)? Could the output levels be controlled or muted by it?

Creative Worldwide Support

I know that is not W7 but there is more about Patch Mix. It tells you something when a soundcard has a help section on its site actually CALLED "No Sound"????

Dave.
