no signal, generic sound card

Hi folks,

So i've downloaded a few programs tonight to do a little recording. I have an ART tube mp studio preamp running out to my line in on my generic sound card.

Well, i can hear everything fine thru my speakers. Sounds great. But i can get no signal to any of the programs. Now my sound cards mixer has playback and recording properies. I have all of them unchecked, and they are not muted. Yet i still can't pick up a signal for any of the programs.

Any advice on what i could change to try and get this thing working? The programs i have tried tonight are pro tools free, quartz audio master, and n-track.

In the recording properties, the 'Line in' box should normally be checked. This will allow the programs to record sound coming in from the Line in. It's actually the inverse of the playback, it's a selector, not a muter.
