PS.
If you are serious about your mixing, you are going to have to get some better DirectX effects than the ones that come with
ProAudio9.
Sonar comes with DSP-FX's suite which is not bad at all... it's not WAVES, but it is adequate and I've used it with good results.
I don't do any destructive editing. All of
my dynamics processing and FX are done in real-time, and they have been since CPA9, but I use to have to create submixes because my PC didn't have the juice to do all the real-time processing.
Having said that, I am now using a 1.2ghz Athlon with 640mb of SDRAM, a 20gb HD for my applications and a RAID-0 configuration of 2 - 40gb HD for my audio.
oh yeah. here's a list of the fx suites that i own:
Waves (reverb, compressor, limiter, and EQ are awesome)
Ultrafunk (use to love the compressor and EQ until I got Waves)
DSP-FX (use to love the reverb and optimizer until i got Waves. Use the love the aural exciter until I learned how to mix. still use the delay and sometimes the chorus)
AutoTune (still love it, cause i can't sing worth sh*t)
