definitely feelin' it. Good balance all the way through. Talent with the rapin'. I like the chic chrous hook, its tasteful. Overall sounds like somethin i'd hear on the radio. Great job, A+ :) keep up the good work! After listening some more, sometimes its hard to understand the girl and even the main rap vocals around 3:20... sounds quieter than the beginning.

What equipment did you use? mics, program, drum machine etc.

at about 1:00 you might think about introducing/adding a new insrument to elevate the chorus
and repeat the effect at 2:00 ect.; I here the piano “double” of the string but I’m thinking something more

I like the string pad, how ‘bout adding a little space in the pad like panning ( like you did with the left- right male vox)

and maybe a touch of call and answer with the female vox (just a touch)

much enjoyed

touch of call and answer? never heard of that...

the main melody is panned left and right its not coming down the middle thats why the vox cuts thru and still sits in the mix...during the hook add some more reverb or something?

by call and answer I'm talking about the girl sings...

"we ain't got no love"
then add/insert a line... "no love"
then back to... "we ain't got no love"
or
call:"you may think you got it all"
answer: "it all"
call:"you can say you'll never fall"
answer: "never fall"
make sense?

"during the hook add some more reverb or something?"

when I said effect I didn't mean fx (reverb, ect)
I'm talkin' about... you already got the string pad playing the notes
"A,C- octaveA,C- F,E" and the piano playing "A,C,D,A"
now add a new insrument in there, staccato, like the piano, but not a piano more along the line of a marinda or plucked guitar (could have a delay or something)
that plays (maybe 8th notes) over the last few words of each vocal line,
back in the mix of course, and maybe panned

just two ideas to give the chorus a bit of a lift from the verse

the main rap vocals need to be a bit louder... I think the chorus sounds fine tho

thanks i remixed it and did just that...just ain't put it up yet

I think the main vocal is seated in the mix well, I think that that female vocal from teh beginning could go down a little and add some reverb. She sounds like she's in a different space than everything else. Nice mix though.

Definitely feeling this. The conviction in the voice is evident. The mix is clean, the sounds are musical.

I see a lot of potential. I would work more on the hook to convert it into a wildcard

nice flow :)

i thought the female vox in the chorus was weak. it sounded kinda off and muffled.

nice mix overall

very well done. I have nothing to add....carry on!

The God speaks about the legend of banging percussion

You need waay more ass in the snare drum....its too drum machine and not full sounding enough. I mean the beat is constructed so its going but the problem is that the snare isnt giving enough presence...(DONT DROP THE SNARE YOU HAVE) but you either need to add another one to it (layered) or use the snare you currently have as a "B snare " compared to a "A snare."

OR again try the layering but offset the second snare sound you sample backward by about 650 or maybe 550 ticks...whatever the smallest unit is in your resolution or swing setting...I use Cubase VST 5.1 so i dont know what you run... but either way you should work on getting a waaay phatter sounding snare for the main snare. SERIOUSLY.... if you get a better main snare you may actually notice that your percussion gets accentuated by the sound of snare hitting simulataneously with it or maybe even inspire you to switch up your drum pattern. Cuz seriously you need at least one break in the song where something is slightly altered...like for example at the beginning of verse 2 theres a drop in the beat...such as mute all instruments except the bassline and drums and switch up the pattern a little bit to add some variety to your rhythm section...cuz right now the song seems awfully long and bordering on monotony without some embellishments...This is NOT TO SAY that the song is wack...what im saying is that obviously and you know this that the song needs to undergo at least 2 more revisions with the intention to make the song more fluid and also to add some aural cues so that the listener can notice the song progress and develop over time instead of just cool riff with little or no arrangement and orchestration with some verses and a chick singing the hook. Yes this formula can work but you still have to use the formula! IE....In Da Club...(if you hate the song just pay attention to the composition involved). The beat CHANGES at least 3 or 4 times during the course of the song and not only changes but goes into 3 ro 4 very good sections which make it EASIER for you to remember the whole song.

NOW go back and try out some variations on those drum patterns and give us some phattness to the snare so we can bob harder to your track...Oh
Slap a nice 808 sample behind your kick with a very very very short release...on a scale from 0 to 100 make the release like a 15 to 25. It adds meat to the kick without totallly obscurring the bassline you played in. This may add the need for some eqing of the kick to avoid muddiness but this will definately make your drums have some definate punch.

ONE MORE THING

You need some buss work done to your drum kit and to your instruments.

A send your whole drum set to a group track ...Apply a nice warm multiband limiter like "Endorphin VST (Free plugin) on preset Loudness something its the last preset with a name " as an insert on your group track...Add Ruby tube vst set to "Strong Limiting" after endorphin ...add Magneto after Ruby tube...if you dont own magneto then go get the JS Magneto...its free and pretty comparable....however its not as tweakable....eitherway set the input to 1.5 decibels and the output to 8db....after this insert Da Tube (Cubase native plug in) crank the input to about 1 oclock and the output to 2 oclock ...now if you dont have Da Tube...maybe you could try AIPL Warmtone its shareware but its free... OR you could try Saturator...but give your drums some more bite ...this will allow them to sit at a lower volume but still punch...this will give your vocals more room to sit in the mix....You definately need to lower the volume of your instruments a tad bit....HOWEVER...eq may fix this...group all your instruments to another group track and cut the mids on it but you will have to adjust in the 6 to 7000 khz range to find the right place to eliminate the offending mids...either way lower em at least a db and this will give your vocal less freqs to compete with.

Oh yeah vox needs something to add sheen to it...like a nice tight chorus or a tight delay set to 19.5 ms so that your vox have more presence and cut through the mix.....

Either way you'll probably read this and be like whatever man...but email me at mtolympusceo@yahoo.com if you need more in depth critiquing.

Peace
Illumination

it gets more in depth then that?

o yea i'm not the producer, rapper or singer. I could add drops though.

did you listen to both?

put the chorus on the vox or on a aux bus? same with the delay? aux bus or not?

I would throw some more effect on the female vocals. You know, kindof create the picture that they are right behind the rapper, kinda singing over his shoulder kindof thing. Ya Know????
