No input sound. Can't record voice/Guitar

So I have a Cubase AL4. I've already done the correct presets and I've adjusted my VST Audio Setting.

I have a MW12cx Yamaha Mixer with the Cubase AL4. My brother usually does the twicking but I wanted to try it out, and it seemed that he also forgot how to do it. I have playback when I connect the instruments to the port and when I play an audio file that I downloaded and imported to cubase. But when I record, I can't see the Input levels rising up or down. :/ I wonder what's wrong? I'm a newbie at recording and cubase AL4. and I've been racking my brains out! Please if anyone knows what to do reply asap. and I've already tried switching off and on the monitor button . Nothing seems to work.

Direct X? Use the driver for the mixer (for your OS), and select it from Device Setup in Cubase.

Hey friend,

It looks like you're trying to run your system off of your computer's built in sound card which you cant do. Go to Devices and then go all the way down to the bottom and hit Device setup.

Switch the VST audio system to what your outboard preamp or mixers name is

Now go to VST connections and add an input bus, stereo or mono depending on what you are recording and how you want it recorded, and set the inputs to whatever you are plugged into at the time.

Now add a new audio track, set it to the appropriate bus, hit monitoring, and you should hear yourself playing

I have this Manual for the MIxer and The Cubase. It says that I should use the Asio Direct X FullDuplex Driver . I only followed the Instruction. Should I be downloading another driver?" and which one? I'm using SP
 
The thing there are only 2 option ASIO Mutimedia Driver and The ASIO Direct X :/
 
That is because you need to download and install the driver for the mixer. Then it will show up in the VST Audio System dropdown menu.

Okay So I downloaded the Driver and switched my VST settings to Yamaha but I still can't record the voice or hear the playback if ever it did record
 
Check your VST Connections. You should have a mono input bus, and a stereo out bus. Then check the input on the track you are recording to via the inspector window on the left of your project window. The mono input bus needs to be selected there.
 
I can't post a pic , of it but now It's all messed up . It's saying Unmapped. :/

Can you show me a screenshot of the correct procedures?
 
Can you post a pic of the the proper settings. I've already done it but still no input . :/
 
Unmapped? That does not sound like you selected the Yammie. Try to post that pic again. There have been issues with attachments on the site lately. :(
 
@SoundCave: It's not a built in sound card. The Asio DirectXDuplex comes with the Usb Mixer. The YamahaMW12cx is a plug-in play audio interface. I don't know what's wrong but I have outputs when I import an audio. But I think cubase won't detect my mixer. Even with the Audacity. Sometimes it's there sometimes it's not. Could it be the I have to update my driver? :/ Or something is wrong with my driver?
