One of my favorite bands, thought it would be a somewhat easy one to cover vocally, but really struggled .....this is a first mixdown...I'm thinking maybe the drums are a bit loud , and probably the guitar solo as well(go figure:o)...anyways, any feedback would be cool, trying to get back into this recording thing....

Nice queepster...:)

I don't remember this tune specifically, but I feel like you've captured the overall sound and feel of this band pretty well here. My wife (who also doesn't know this tune) immediately called out from the next room that this sounded like the sex pistols (I was kinda cranking it)...so good job there.

Anyway, the mix seemed maybe a bit dark to me overall and might stand with some brightening up...but as much as I liked these guys back in the day, I don't remember ever being taken by their production values or anything, so not sure if you're trying to emulate that aspect or not...

Your vocals on this are kind of quirky sounding, but so was the original vocalist, so you've captured the basic feel of the thing I think. A fun listen...thanks!:)

Oh yeah - solo didn't strike me as too loud...

Thanks Heat, I did cut some hi's from the overall mix due to the super shrill drum loops (hi-hat) that I used...your to kind on the "kinda quirky sounding" comment on the vocals...:D...I thought the my usual nasly pitchy vox would be perfect for this, but I even suck at trying to sing out of tune :p
Thanks for the listen!

Great drum sound. The guitars in the intro sound kind of pumpy. I don't know what's causing it. The vocals are out of tune. If that's how the original song is though, then you got it. Nice solo. :D

Thanks squibble.....I think the drum sound is cool, just to many crazy fills for this ...vocals suck ass, going to give those one more try....guitars may be a little over compressed causing the pumping? Iv'e heard that as well and will check it out...thanks for listening and the feedback !

I LOVE the Pistols - I was a long haired bearded hippy looking fellow in flairs & western shirts pogoing all over the place when the Damned & Pistols 1st made it onto the alternate radion station down here in 76 & 77. I didn't change my clothes sense for a few years but my music sense was sent spinning.
How many guitar tracks? I read that they did 10 or more to get the sound on the LP.
You're just a little too polite with the vox.
The drums are cool - may be a little too up front.
Guitars are good - there is some pump happening. You might need to restore a bit of top end edge to the scrapping intro.
Bass matlock used a Ricky didn't he? & Sid, well Sid didn't really play on the record - that was the guitarist with Fender P I think.I think the sound is fine - it becomes a little burried after a minute.
Solo - no, not too loud.
Thanks for doing a cool job on this. Keep tweaking - they did too!

Thanks Ray, I can picture the long haired bearded pogoing hippy :)...When I 1st heard the Pistols/Clash bands I was only 12, and deep the throes of ELO, Elton John, and other mid 70's top 40 stuff, so they were a bit of a shock ... opened a whole new world for me....
I've redone the drums to be a little less busy....working on a new vocal. I think I have 6 tracks of rthym guitars, all my firebird exceopt for 2 that were a tele believe it or not..I did use a Rik for the bass...
Will keep tweeking and post a new version of what Ive come up with...thanks for the listen!
