I've discovered that not only is my hard disk DMA box not checked, but there isn't one there at all! The settings for the cdrom shows a checked dma box.
I have a ABIT BE6II MOBO with 2 UDMA 66 controllers and 2 UDMA33's. When you first install these things, you have to hook up to the 33's then when it's recognized(?) you go back and hook-up to the 66's.
I've been having some problems and recently had to start in safe mode several times. I have also reinstalled windows. Though that was several months ago, I could have lost DMA then as well- I haven't looked in a long time.
I should also note that the 66 drivers are still showing in the device manager. They are under "SCSI Controllers" and always have been, though I've been told this is normal.
Why do I have no DMA box? Have I given enough info to answer conclusively? How do I get it back and ensure that I am indeed operating in UDMA 66 mode?
