I'm brand new to the home recording game, but haven't some aggravating problems already. I've got a Presonus Firepod that I'm plugging microphones and guitars into to get those audio signals into Logic Express 8, but I can't get any audio to actually show up in the arrange area. Logic and my iMac recognize that the Firepod is plugged in, but when I go to record through the microphone on the Firepod track, nothing happens. And I know that an audio signal is going through the Firepod, as when I boost the volume high enough, the red "clip" light comes on. There's just no audio coming through to Logic. Even when I talk into the microphone (prior to arming the track and hitting "record") I am unable to hear any audio from the microphone. Can anyone help me figure out what I'm missing or what setting in Logic I need to change?
Here's my computer's system settings for the audio (input & output):

Here's my audio settings in Logic Express 8. (I have "built-in device" selected as my input. Is this correct? I tried changing it to the Firepod and the only way I could hear audio I recorded through the CAPS LOCK keyboard is through the headphone jack on the Firepod, and that still doesn't solve my problem of microphone audio not coming through to Logic)

Here's an example of me recording a piano sound using the CAPS LOCK keyboard in logic:

But when I try and record on the Firepod track using the microphone, the audio doesn't appear in the arrange area. In fact, I can't hear any audio from my microphone through my computer's speakers. Only when I plug headphones into the Firepod.

Thanks so much for any help that you can offer!
