I am from the U.S. but am now teaching English in Taiwan. In a year to year and a half I would like to begin masters degree related to using technology in the classroom, especially to teach foreign languages. In the next year I would like to spend a considerable amount of time - unfortunately, probably a considerable amount of money also - learning the technical side of using photos, photo editing, recording sound and video, etc. I was very pleased when I found this site - I think it will be useful, and hope that, sooner or later, I can also be helpful to a newbie here I plan to use vcdhelp.com to learn the art of video editing

I have some questions but I think they fall under some of your other categories - so don't be afraid to search them out and answer them

Sound can be a bit of a steep learning curve but given that you want to use it for video productions only if i understood you right this makes it a bit easier.
