Okay. My little budget is coming in just after Christmas. Planned purchases: Speaker stands for the M3's (get em off the desk), PreSonus Monitor Station (easy switching of the monitors), Sennheiser Pro380 (replace my dead Denons). That's about half the budget.
I've played with the thought of getting a better mike, but I love my 2001. It just works for my voice, which is getting older anyway. Probably not the answer.
I've played with the thought of getting a decent guitar, but I'm not a decent guitarist. As long as I'm just writing the pieces and having my brother record them, what I've got is cool.
So I'm playing with the thought of getting some outboard gear or maybe just buying some in the box VSTs, but I work in Reason and most people's recommends on in the box would be useless. Bought the Selig Limiter and what a difference THAT thing makes. Unbelievable.
But I'm looking at the ART Pro-VLA II I mean from the reviews from amateurs and pros alike it truly is a "poor man's CL-1A". Tube gain staging + optical compression in an under $300 package. Only negative review I've seen on it was from some poor guy that got a no-op unit...
Anybody got suggestions that are not boutique Neve, Tube Tech, Manley, etc.? Any Reason users out there with recommends on the Amplifikation series, Rotor, Trident A Range, Softube stuff, C1-L1, Saturation Knob, McDSP EQs, Tilt Filters, TSAR or Polar?
