hiya this is the set up we have and what we have done
my husband is a solo vocalist using mini disc with his backin tracks on
so we have all his own gear
ie amp, mixer, speakers etc
now we want to record him and was wondering how to connect it all to computer set up
we have tried it by using audicity and draggin music then opening new one for his vocals
we have put 2 mini jacks to his mixer and the other end to i think line in
we then press record and it does record his voice but on the mic and mixer its cuttin out the reverb effect ...does it do that ????? i know i have to add it later
now is there an easier way to record like this or have we set it up right
or would it be better to record onto mini disc

What kind of mixer? Sounds like it's tapping the signal right after the pre. What outputs on the mixer are you using? The direct outs, inserts, aux, C/R, main mix, ?? Some mixers have the option to send a signal pre or post fader. If you're using a direct out, maybe you could change to a post aux signal or something.

I wouldn't tho, it's actually GOOD to record a dry signal and add compression, reverb, and fx later on. If you record the fx, you can't un-remove em later if you decide it's over-compressed or otherwise wrong for the mix, then retracking will be your only option.
