Univalve & Avatar Speaks
I've out grown my set up and would like to step into the PC recording arena. I picked up a Delta 1010LT today. Thought I had a good plan but now not so sure.

Previsously, I was mixing drum and vocal mics, guitar/POD, Bass/POD and Triton LE through a 24 Channel Beringer. Then sending mixed audio to my single channel PC card for final recording. Sometimes, I would simply laydown single tracks through the same setup and do a final mix in SONAR. I was getting frequent pops, delay and the usual cheap result with cheap audio card so, I thought I would get the 1010LT...it has a couple midi ports, plenty of I/Os and some clocking capabilities. Great reviews and looks like a great product for the price.

Now, I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do with all the stuff! Is my hardware mixer obsolete? If so, how do I drive my monitors and head phones? It seems that this will be confusing to operate...too many controls in series on the mixing side.

Could someone give me a few thoughts on how to best integrate the use of this multi I/O audio card with my system? Thanks!

Is my hardware mixer obsolete?
No! There are many uses for it. The Delta 1010 has two mic preamps. If you mic drums you will want to use the mixer for its mic preamps and run the line signals into line inputs on the Delta to get at least four separatte drum tracks so you can add verb to the snare but leave the kick dry and those sort of standard drumkit-tracking techniques.

Which Behringer do you have? With eight analog inputs to feed on the soundcard, you might be a little bit limited if it's one of those cheaper models with no direct channel outs and only one subgroup, like my MX1604A. But if you use the Delta's mic preamps, and run the POD, the Bass POD, and the Triton into the card, well, there's all 8 inputs on the card used up, so to get more mic signals into you would have to swap cables, unless you route all your gear through the mixer -- then you can choose what's getting piped into those eight inputs (assuming that you can get eight separate signals out of the mixer). You can also use it to route your stereo out from the Delta to the speakers and headphones.

If you tell us which model Behringer you have, maybe we can be more specific with suggestions....

I've got the UB2442FX Pro...all in all, It's been a fairly nice mixer...I know a lot of folks here will want to bash the box but, for the price and my level of experience, it's served the purpose well.

Keep the suggestions comming...thanks all.
