i know this question has probaly been asked numerous times but if someone would help it would be greatly appreciated. i looking into setting up a home recording studio mostly for r&b and rap. i already have a gateway pentium II comp which i am wanting to run my equip through. so far i have the mpc2000xl and a korg trinity. my question is:

1. what other equip will i need to just get started & what
they are for

2. what soundcard would be recommended(pros/cons)

3. what music software would be recommended(pros/cons)

4. and any other equip or suggestions that i may have missed
would be necessary.

any help would be greatly appreciated and i love the info so far i have gotten from the board.

thanks

First things first:

What are the specs on your computer (speed, Ram, Hard drive size, etc)?
2. what soundcard would be recommended(pros/cons)
what do you need? How many inputs?
What is your Budget?
3. what music software would be recommended(pros/cons
How much money do you have? Get a demo to start, www.fasoft.com has N-tracks, great for about $50.

i have a gateway pent II comp with 233mghz, 1gig harddrive that came with it and i have added a 30 gig harddrive. i have the akai mpc 2000xl and trinity and at the most i will need 4 mics for my r&b group. my question is how many inputs/outputs will the card need, i believe they will need to be digital and have midi connection & for the software i have about 300/400 to spend.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
