Hey guys, i guess I'll introduce myself then ask some questions. My name is Tyler I'm from Boise, Idaho. I'm 17, ive been playing drums for about 6 years or so! I've been looking into starting a little "home studio/jam room" where my friends and I can hang out make some beats, record tracks and just have some fun!

So onto the newb questions! Lol!

So Ive been looking on guitar centers website at some deals, and I just want some opinions on what's a good deal or not!? Haha!

So heres the first deal I've been looking at! Seems pretty good? Maybe!? Lol

Akai Professional MPK 49 Recording Package and more Studio & Recording Packages at GuitarCenter.com.

The other option I was considering was:

PreSonus Audiobox USB Recording Package and more Studio & Recording Packages at GuitarCenter.com.

Then buy the Akai mpk25 with the above deal!

What do you guys think? Good enough for just producing some jams and having fun? Anything else I need? Other deals that are better? Any feedback and comments would be very greatly appreciated! Always looking to gain more knowledge:D

Thanks guys!

The Akai MPK 49 looks like a handy and sturdy customer. The review I read of it gives it the thumbs up. I guess it depends what you want to do ultimately. If you're going to go beyond beat making and jamming, then it's a good tool to have, though saying that, almost any MIDI keyboard would. In terms of recording, a 49er is the minimum number of keys I'd go for although some people prefer and do well with 25s.
By the way, the link for the first package led to a page that says it's currently unavailable so I don't know what else was part of the package.
Scour the forum though. There's plenty to read and get yourself acquainted with. Many questions will be answered and many more will spring to mind.

Thank you so much! Yeah I think the mpk49 would be better because it has more keys lol! Hmm I will try and fix that! it has some Fostex PM0.4n monitors, Firewire solo mobile audio interface, and a MXL 990/993 studio microphone package! Thank you again! I will definitely be using my resources to gain more knowledge :) I'm just getting a taste of being an audio producer!

Before you buy any 'package' scout around for the individual pieces on sale at other places - sometimes the deal is not such a deal after all. And read all the reviews of each piece, too.

I wouldn't rely solely on a soundonsound review. I've yet to come across a piece of equipment they don't like.

Definitely. I'm not a huge fan of the bundles and packs. It's usually something good with something that doesn't sell thrown in. There are exceptions, ofcourse, but most of it is meh.
