I'm completely knew to the home recording and audio scene, so after a little research I got a cheap emu 0202. It works great for what I need and have made several recordings with it so far. Out of NO where JUST tonight, all these pops and clicks and even some serious distortion when I try to record started showing up. The popping and clicking persists even when I do not have an instrument plugged into it, so it cannot be the pickup on my guitar. These pops and clicks only appear when I am recording, or using the direct monitor feature, not when I am playing back audio from itunes or foobar (unless pops and clicks were recorded in the song).

I have looked in the troubleshooting section of the emu's manual about pops and clicks but my settings coincide with their solution to the problem.

I"m super confused, the emu has been working perfectly for about 2 months, and now I'm having all these noise issues. I have not changed any settings or components on my computer, there should be no reason for this.

If anybody has a solution to this problem or can help me is anyway please help out a serious newbie. If you need more information please let me know.

thanks!

not sure of what software your using, but in sonar there's a "CPU gauge" that shows you the percentage of cpu is being utilized, if it gets up to high because of the amount of tracks and/or the number of plugins I'm using, I will get cracking and popping(I really need to upgrade my computer) and I'll have to to in and increase the buffer/latency. The other thing might be if you've add any new software that might be running in the background witch is interfering with the card.
