Hello

Im new to all this but what I basically need is a little info I am in a band and am in the progress of building a recording studio our band is drums bass 2 guitars and 1 vocal. My question is what is the best or a good sound card to use to record say 8 mics at once via a good mixer I hope to use usb2 as well please can anyone point me in the right direction.

Welcome to our home here at HR.COM.

First question. What is your budget?

There are not many USB 2.0 units on the market yet.. one by Edirol that I've seen advertised lately but that's it.

thaks all a few more questions

Thanks for all your help ive looked at the motu 2408 mk3 If i was to get one does this mean i could plug in say 2 guitars 1 bass 1 vocals and 3 mics on the drums and record to my hard drive all 8 tracks at once then edit them via the soft ware I also have cool edit pro could I use that? .Could i also use it in the track by track method of recording ie drums and bass then add guitars keyboard etc? Would i need a pe mixer as well if i wanted to plug in say 4 headphones so we could all hear the live mix is that possable on the motu?

1. Yes.
2. Yes
3. Yes.
4. No, but I would probably suggest you to eventually buy one.
5. Yes. but I would also suggest that you purchase a headphone distribution device.

Thanks spin uve hellped a lot but....

If I want to do all as above but on a larger scale ie 10 mic or 16 mic input system what do you recomend do motu do something like this? Thanks again

I don't know about the motu but the Delta 1010 's are stackable,(you can link up multiple units) so if you start with one and need more I/O down the road you can just add another and just like that you've gone from 8 to 16.
