I'm looking for a two track "Stand-alone" mastering software package. So far, the only one I've found is "T-Racks" Mastering software for both Mac & PC. It claims that it will handle higher bit depths in the future... right now it's 16-Bit only.

What are the other options out there...? I'd like to get multi-band compression, multi-band limiting, blah blah blah, yaddah yaddah yaddah... without going the "Plug-in" route.

We are an "outboard" linear home studio. We record to (3) ADAT XT-20's (24 tracks) through a Mackie 24-8 with 3 racks full of miscellaneous gear.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

As I understand it there are three main ones and all are represented here in forums
1. Wavelab by Steinberg
2. Soundforge by Sonic Foundry
3. Cooledit by Stryillium or something

All use plugins!! and to get the effects you want you will need the plugins - I believe they all handle up to 24bit/96Khz.

My preference is Wavelab as it burns CDs as well and I like the way it handles plugins

My I add that using quality outboard gear to get good results, will cost you an arm and a leg.

Why not plug ins?

T.C. Electronics finializer. The best in mastering.

Software=wavelab Non use of plugins is going to be hard to find.
