when recording a keyboard, do i plug the keyboard into the mixer using a direct in or do i have to use a midi cable? when i've played like with keyboard players they always use direct ins but then it makes me wonder why they have midi. is midi just for running the keys through an effect processor or something? thats pretty much what my keyboard player does but i wondered if there was anything wrong with his technique
