Hi Everyone,

I have several Yamaha Digital Pianos that are approximately 8 to 10 years old. They both play the Midi Disk. I have been a singer all my life but never took the time to learn how to play an instrument. The piano worked out because I could download some decent quality midis and let the piano play the song while I sang. Recently my daughter has become very good on the piano and I was wanting to record her playing and me singing and burn it to a CD Recorder. I was curious if anyone could recommend a decent recorder. Also, I'm sure once I get the hang of it, I would use the recorded to recorder me singing to the midi disks as well.

Thanks,

Ben

It doesn't quite work that way.

Apart from playing midi files, what inputs and outputs does your piano of choice have? What model are we talking?

At its simplest you could route stereo audio outs (assuming you have them on your piano) into a program like Audacity (free) via a 2 channel USB interface (not free), then later record your singing via a decent microphone (also not free) into the same interface and burn to CD on your PC.

You may not like the results. But then again it might serve your purpose.

It gets more complicated from there on, depending upon what you want to achieve.

Suggest you read the "Don't post here until you read this thread" thread up above, in particular the tweakz guide as to how home recording, at its most basic, works.
