Would it make sense to pickup a inexpensive mex squire jazz bass ($120)and just replace the pick-ups? if so what would be the best to replace them with?

Or alternately Di Marzio, it's your choice, there are some quality manufacturers out there, My personal thing on Fenders is that Seymours are a bit harsh but it's purely subjective.
