I'm looking at starting home recording on my computer and need some pointers and help for setup. Here is what I run.
Athlon xp 2000, Windows ME, 256 mbPC133 ram, 60gb 7200rpm HD, 8 GB 5600rpm HD and SoudBlaster Live card. For programs I have access to Cool Edit Pro, Protools (free version) and Cakewalk home studio. If you could reccomend any gear that I should look into getting or other types of software it would be appreciated. Also could someone reccomend a good drum loops/machine program for good drum samples and programming. Thanx.

There's a newbie forum, check it out.

We need to know:

Your budget.
What you want to record.

Sorry. I noticed the newbie forum after I had already posted. For a budget about 500 (canadian) and as for what I want to record it would be mostly demoing my own songs. Guitars, vocals, bass. Thanx for the help.
