hey you guys, i'm so new to this stuff that you'll think I'm the biggest idiot in the world. No really just give me a chance. Here I go, All I want to do is take my stratocaster plug it into the amp and some how get the crap on my computer. Is there a way to just plug it in. Or do I have to go and buy some expensive recording device and convert to some format and then download it on my computer where I have a software program that cost $300 bucks. I love to play but I'm so Illiterate at this stuff that it's pathetic. If you know the simplest way to get my music on my computer then please help. Thanks for the time.

first you will have to do a lot of research to understand the basics, try it here http://www.homerecording.com

you will understand what do you need and how much you want to spend.

the basic is:
guitar - cable - amp - mic (sm57)- cable - preamp (little mixer) - cables - soundcard - and your software...

or it could be a simple as: guitar - cable - soundcard (but that sound like crap :)) Check out Cakewalk Guitar tracks, or Guitar studio, it's designed for us dumb guitarists, it's a good, simple place to start. and so is here :)

:D so dont do it!!

Your amp might have a Line Out on the back... if it does, you can take this signal straight into the line in of your coundcard. Again, it might not sound the best, but it's probably the easiest way and certainly the cheapest way.

wrightato,

I replied to the email that you sent me but it bounced back. Ask the question here and I or someone else here will reply to it.
