Hi! I am new to the world of home recording. I purchased a Samson G Track and am currently using Audacity to record. Having okay results i guess.

The internet is a huge place so dont quite know where to start, so any advice, or tips or links are welcome.

Anyone else using the G Track or Audacity?

Thanks!

Welcome, and good luck! You've come to the right place, I'm relatively new myself and have learned a lot from my short stay here. If I may recommend a program to you it would be Reaper. It's got a free trial, and I believe it's $40 for a full license if you decide you like it. I'm not so familiar with that microphone, but from a quick Google search I can assume it's a good place to start :D

What do you record?

thanks for that! will give it a try.

Recording guitar, bass and some vox. Trying a mixture of things and havnt fully got into it, but wanting to.

Hi,
I'm also brand new to home recording and this is a great community in which to learn. I've already progressed faster than I would have without the help I've received here. I used Audacity and found it to be easy and suitable for my basic need of just recording vocals. I'm using Cubase now, which came with my interface. Are you having any latency issues with Audacity? I wasn't until I tried out the beta version so if you are using the old one I personally suggest you don't download the new one. Audacity probably doesn't have the best plugins and such so you will probably want to move to something else, but in your own time. Each program has a learning curve and you'll know when you've outgrown 1.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

I realy recommendend Focusrite saffire pro 24/ or the version with VRM (virtual reference monitoring) helps you master your tracks with headphones on.

I got this interface(soundcard) it i gives me many opportunities :)

I also recommendend Steinberg Cubase 6 cuz DAW(digital audio workstation) has much to say on you mixin and whit what you can do!

Hello! welcome to the forum, it's a great place to ask questions when you have any.
Nope, I don't use g track or audacity but do run a website dedicated to recording at home, which has plenty of recording tips, hints and reviews etc. which may be useful to you.
