Automatically copying and extending a beat.

I have a newbie question about beats. The beat samples I see are usually just a few seconds long. If I need a backing track of beats lasting, say 2 minutes, this is what I do; I copy/paste using N-track and then line up all the short beat samples to get a long continuous beat track.

There must be an easier automatic way to do this, right? Could somebody point me to the best program to automate this process, hopefully freeware or else something very affordable?

Many Thanks.

Not familiar with N-track... You need to look for some typa loop fuction or setting. All this will do is allow you to set a point where the beat will loop back to. Also one you do a copy/paste all you usual gotta do to repeat it is hit the CTRL key a V key at the same time to repeat the function. Should paste repeat the paste just fine.

One of the dopest programs that does loop based sample sequencing is SONIC FOUNDRY's ACID. This is a dope program when using loops.

you can try wavelab4.0 it does a good job on that...n-track is really good for recordin gthe vocals and add libs over the beats...

LAZI hit your nail on the head.....acid loops programs or perfect for what you're looking for.....you can find older versions for free all over the place.

Many thanks to everyone for offering your valuable advice.

After checking and testing things out I found that I’m able to use the free trial version of Acid Xpress 3.0 to do what I need to do.

Thanks again to everyone who posted and e-mailed.
