Hi everybody! I've been lurking here for a few months now and have really enjoyed everybody's posts and music.

I'm submitting one of my favorite songs for "review", if you will. It's called "Unconditional" listed at:
http://www.nowhereradio.com/joey/singles

It's a love song....

I'm looking forward to reading your responses and being a member of your forum! Thank you.

your file doesn't seem to be mp3 encoded.....and won't stream for me..
:(

Very nice and lush sounding. I like the piano and string arrangements. Vocals are good too.

Well...........I am not a pop fan, but I am certainly feelin your talent KC.............This song could hang in with any mainstream artist.....probably a great wedding song too.....are you pitching this to publishers or trying to get a deal now?

Either way...your wife should be very proud of the the song.................Post up new stuff as you complete it I would be interested in hearing more.........and guys this is worth a listen

I'm not sure what's going on here but I still can't get it to play. Confusing because I have a NowhereRadio account and can play everyone else's stuff, just not this. Hmmmm.....

Well that's just odd, Track Rat.....

I uploaded the file as an MP3 and tested the stream on two computers and both played the files fine.

I hate to ask the ever popular question... Where's Waldo?

I suppose I will post on the NWR MBs to find out what the problem is. Thanks for letting me know guys.

Thank you, Gec. Yes my husband and I are attempting to do something with the song. We've submitted it to several places and are waiting on word back. It actually is a wedding song: ours.

BTW, I have heard your music and am honored that you like it. :-)

nice songs. I didn't really care for the drum sounds, but nice songs.

good luck with it.

Nice song, but there are significant mix issues in my opinion.

Overall, everything has this squashed quality to it, almost as if you compressed and quantized every track.

The intro part sounds very stiff... as do the drums... as well, everything is up-front and in-your-face, and not in a good way... the tracks can be dry but still need depth.

Those "explosive" toms in the bridge and chorus aren't working -- they need more punch and depth.

The you'd be better-off using a real guitar for the guitar parts - they really sound like samples and aren't very realistic. The piano isn't bad once it's in the bed tracks, but on its own in the intro, it has that same "sample" quality to it.

Last thing -- the vocal is flat in a few places......

Good effort, nice tune - now you can work on your mixing skills!

Why in the hell can everyon else load this tune and I can't?

yeah...me too track...it is only about 150kb when I download it, and it appears to be in some video format too...and of course it won't stream. maybe the problem is I use the Windows media player for mp3 playback...and it's the latest version...but...I don't know.

the .pls files done load for everyone (including me).....

everyone, though, should be able to stream .m3u (mp3.com streams) - or just stick to making mp3 an option.

As it says in the Help section on the forums, WINDOWS MEDIA will NOT play back streams on NWR, since MS pulled their SC protection playback.

If you want to use Windows Media, you'll have to download the mp3 first (the option must be enabled by the artist).

Anywho, if that's what you guys are trying to play back with, get another player, almost everything works (even crappy realplayer), although I prefer WinAmp.

thx Waldo.
winamp installed, and everything working fine.
(up to now, all streams at nwr seemed to be working, but winamp seems to be the superior player..thx)

did you read this Trackrat??

Nice tune, vocals, and instrumentation...and good efx on the vocals.
the singing almost has that "ziggy stardust-david bowie" sound to it....or that's who it first reminded me of first. ..even though this stuff isn't really in that vein. But, it does sound kinda like a art/rock kinda tune to me for some reason. No real complaints with the sound or mix. great job.

mixmkr,

You were probably using the 'download' option, and your file associations were linked to WMP, so when you were downloading, WM buffered the song and played it back as it recieved the chunks.

NWR has been running off of PLS for almost 7 months, and nothing has changed. MS pulled the support for SCPLS playback pre. v6.4, which is going back almost 3 years.

And yep, WinAmp kicks ass over most mp3 players.

Waldo...your accessments are most likely right on the money....
thanks for the tips. most helpful....

now...if I can stop screwing around with winamp's freaky screen viewer...too spacey...and I thought the 60's were over:)

Thank You!

Thanks for the listens, guys and for the advice. I relayed the messages along....

Hey, MixMkr... uncross your eyes. :)
