Newb with Tascam 564 question

I am looking at making my first foray into home recording and found a 564 for around 200$. My intended use is to record myself playing an acoustic guitar. It's mostly to evaluate where I am at and to record some rhythm that I can play lead with and just to screw around with a few things. Does anyone have any input on whether or not this is a good machine for what I'm looking to do? Or do you have any other recommendations. My price range is right around 200$. Also my guitar has no pick-up and I don't have a mic for it at this point, so if you have any recommendations for a mic that would help as well.

the cassette 4 trackers are ok for screwing around and getting into multi-tracking. If you can step up to a digital recorder.
A good all round mic would be a Shure SM57 or 58
