newb questions regarding mixer to computer

just a few quick ones...

does an analog mixer connect straight into a soundcard like the M-Audio Delta 1010?

does the mixer have to be specifically for recording?

can you get external soundcards which would suit imacs, laptops etc??...


at the moment i just record straight into a firewire interface, but would like to understand more how mixers actually connect

unless you have a very specific need for a mixer, there is no point in using one with a modern multi channel interface. You're just adding noise with all the gain stages. Mixing ITB with a 24 bit ADC is much better than most mid range mixers
