im learning how to use pro audio 9, and i ran into a problem recently. For some reason when i choose to record onto a track, all other tracks that are not muted get recorded along with the new material im recording. This is especially frustrating when im recording vocals, because i need to be able to hear the track so i can spit lyrics over it, but i want the vocals to be recorded onto a seperate track so i can edit them seperately. Sorry for the newb ass question but any advice or knowlege dropped my way is apreciated.
thanks

Well the obvious question is, are you monitoring over headphones? :)

Assuming that you are, then what sound card are you using? It sounds like you have the input on the sound card set wrong in your mixer applet. If it is set to something like What U Hear, or Stereo Mix, then you will record everything that passes through the sound card - i.e., new recording and playback. You need to set it to Line In.
