Hey, I'm new to the forum, not to mention new to recording.

I have a simple Question.

My band will begin recording within the next week or so. we are using SM57's for the amps and the Drums(octava overheads, Beta 52 for kick). For the vocals we will be using a sennheiser or if needed an SM58.

We are using 2 powered mixers to mix the mics. Then we are planning to run this to my guitarists beast comp system where we will be using N-track.

I am planning on running the mics through the mixers, then using the mixers "bridge" output and connect both to a adapter whcih will turn them both into a single 1/4 male.

First of all, do any of you see any problems with what i have told you?

And second, What type of cables should i use to go from the mixer to the adapter whcih will go into the comp.? (I.e. speaker cables, bantam cables, insert cables, patch cables etc...)

Thanks in Advance for all your help, and ill be sure to post when the recordings are done.

Thanks again, Cesar

I might be missing something, but you definatly do not want to run the bridged output of a powered signal to your recording device... just in case you don't know, that's really bad.

Actually, i didnt.

So would it be better if i just run it through the standard output?

You need to find the "line out" of your powered mixer in order to run it to anything else besides speakers. If your powered mixer doesn't have a line out function for some reason... I think you might need to find another mixer.

Is the powered mixer stereo? Many are not.

I've never seen a powered mixer that was quiet enough to record from... but there's plenty I don't know...

Is this a test?

Is somebody kidding around here in disguise?

Ha Ha funny wise guy:rolleyes:
Anyway . . .

Sounds like you are planning to record in Mono?

You may want to record each instrument to it's own track, otherwise what's the point of using N-Track?

Does the Powered mixer have inserts?

What kind of Sound Card , and please don't tell me Sound Blastard.:o:eek:

and ill be sure to post when the recordings are done.

Yowza, I'll be counting the hours!

Moskus, iz dat U?

This is no joke. As i stated, I am a newb. This is the first time i try this and i'm not looking for a bunch of pros to be laughing in my face. The reason, i ask the first question, is because there might be something wrong with the setup i plan to use.

Thanks for your help, although i never did find out what kinda cables to use...
