Hates Raymond
I redid these two tracks this weekend to get them a little more consistent because I'm getting them put on a death metal compilation CD that is going to be released on a small label.
It's not much, but it's something!

I was going for a little more brutal sounding mix than before and a little brighter. What do you think?

I'll let you know as soon as I find the top of my head!

Listening now...

How did you get such clarity in the vocals? Usually I can't understand a fucking thing these guys say, but I can make out all most all of it.

My only real nit is the drums don't do the track justice. They are lacking a real snap in the snare.

Ooops, I was listening to Tortured Confession...

Thanks for the listen. All I can say about the snare is that I tried to get a sound that I was used to hearing on stuff like this. When I try to add more snap it starts sounding more fake to me...I guess this is sort of a compromise.

For my vocals, I usually try to get some articulation in them so that they can be understood, and I'm kind of tired of the extremely gutteral stuff. I recorded them with a Studio Projects C1 and a Brent Averil 312a preamp....that helped. The C1 has a super bright top end.

Shit, I just realized that the end of that track is cut off....

edit: fixed - the ending is there now ;)
