Hi Kids,

this is a new rendition of something I tried a few weeks back, 90% new stuff. This is a collab:

David-Violins, Keyboards
Frederick- Keyboards
Blair-Voices
Mystery "girl"- you'll see.

Arrangement and Orchestrations by David and Frederick. Any mix/eq advice is VERY welcome.

This is the top one, Le Malinconia/Obsession

Nice rich intro - keyboards and violins well blended to create a nice soundscape. Music invokes tension and has a "dramatic" feel. Good voices - like the monks of ancient times. The various violins and keys move in and out of the spotlight very well. Bit of a bump at 1:43 on one phrase. Very nice reverb like it's recorded in a big church. Heard what I thought was your Mystery girl very briefly - you'll have to tell us a bit more about that. Inspiring as always - great!

Thanks for listening.

Its the voice at the end. It freaks me out

I am really struggling with this piece. As a classical musician, I can sometimes lose touch with the "masses". I want this to have some "commercial" appeal, and so far people just dont get it.A bunch of people have heard it and most dont know what to make of it. Its somewhat out of context as this is part of a very long piece, but I think it should stand on its own and apparently it doesnt.

I admit this:

I didnt understand this piece right away, I had to live with it. I cant expect that of a listener, I cant say " Listen to it ten times then you might understand it." Obviously this isnt going to be in the top 40 of clear channel, but I think it may be just way too "out there".

Is this piece too esoteric? Does it make sense?

Very dramatic start to the piece. Actually, dramatic throughout. I've listened to it a few times now, and think it sounds great. Very big sounding. It could be a soundtrack piece, as it sets a mood very well. I hear nothing that I would change. There is plenty of sound, and all seems to come through very well. Very well done.
I might be an odd one, but I like to put stuff like this into rotation with some very heavy, guitar driven music, and some classical guitar. For me, it really breaks the day up, and having all these different soundscapes is cool. Maybe not mainstream music for the masses, but I think most people like to hear music like this, as it can fit many moods. Just my ramblings.

Damn! My lifelong dream of Britney Spears covering this is over! I'm ruined, hold me :o

Thanks for listening Ed. I think the other movements of the Piece might be a lil more accessible. At least if you like 18 minute pieces

Just wait - Britney is only on break for a while - once she gets back to work she'll probably call you.... Really though - there is a need for this type of music - I can only take so much of the current stuff on the radio. Too much boom thwack repeat. This is pretty excellent music - deserving of cinema soundtracks, symphonies, concert halls and the like. There is a niche for this which will never go away. This is also an inspiration to all us listeners and home recorders. Esoteric - no way! Just my .02! Ok I'll stop ranting now.
