NEW USER: Low gain using US-122 & Cubase LE

I've just purchased a Tascam US-122 and installed Cubase LE. I've hooked up both a Behringer 8500 dynamic mic to the XLR port and my guitar through the lin/guitar in port and can't get more than about 10% signal when trying to record a track. I've searched everywhere and can't find anything. It's a USB connection and everything seems to be pointing to the Tascam box from the PC. The Line Out control knob doesn't seem to affect the USB signal and the gain control on Cubebase doesn't seem to help either.

I'm stumped and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure your line in is switched to guitar level for the direct in. My guess is you need to boost the recording level on your soundcards mixer. Double clicking on the speaker icon down on the lower right of your screen may find it for you.
