New tune, think "Starfox" when you listen to it.

Let me know what you think, all comments appreciated (even "It's too damn short!").

:D

Well,

Like all your stuff I have heard, it sounds great. Nice guitar work. BUT, hey, it's SHORT!

Do you write music for commercials? Ever thought about that?

When you said 'Think Starfox' was this meant to be a cover of a spacific song from the game?

It actually reminded me more of what in broadcasting would be called a 'sports bed'. I am not meaning this as an insult.

It's an original, but I do cover game music. I'm not sure what you mean by a "sports bed", though.

Id like a detailed spread on how this was recorded, and what
machines/instruments you used in the process if its not too much trouble.

Thanx Matt.

I like it, it's cool.

Reminds me of Thin Lizzy's guitar sound.

Drums sound great, everything's mixed well, nicely balanced.

Good stuff

I think the length of the tune is perfect. Punchy with lots of drive! It's high energy rock at it's finest and I like. :)

Nice tune! A fun little rocker. Short? I feel a song only needs to be long enough to reach the end.

I have arguably one of the most basic setups ever, but I will always stick to the idea that the person behind the equipment is much more important than the equipment itself. That being said, here's my list of gear m/ m/:

Hardware:
Gateway 2.4 GHz Pentium 4 computer
Behringer Eurorack MX1604A mixer
Delta 44 audio interface
Yorkville YSM1p monitors

Mics:
Oktava MK012 x2
Shure Beta 52
Shure SM57

Instruments:
Pearl Forum drumset (Borrowed these from a friend ages ago when he got a new set) with a double bass pedal
Ibanez RG guitar
Line 6 100 watt amp (That explains the digital and direct-in sounding guitars, even though I mic my guitar tracks. What I wouldn't do for Mesa Boogie 5150...)
Fender bass

It's obvious enough in my recordings that my primary concern is how the drums sound. Since I can only record up to four tracks simultaneously, I'm always experimenting with tunings and mic placements to make the best of it. Typically, I have my kick drum's batter head tuned really low for that metal slap with a big hole in the resonant head. The beaters are wooden and I have those stickers for extra click. I put my Beta 52 about 7 inches away from the beater and facing slightly upwards and to the right. My snare is usually tuned tightly (lately I've been experimenting with a looser snare) and muted with a paper towel and duct tape to get rid of the horrible reverb. The Oktavas are set up in an XY pattern about two feet above the set. I'm never too concerned with guitars in my recordings because I pretty much know how they're going to sound from the get-go; direct-in sounding not very good. I usually mic bass guitar with my Beta 52.

I got a little carried away, doh. Let me know if you want to know anything I left out :D.

Id say that covers it.
Thanx Matt.
And again, good job.
Youre a talented fellow.
