This is a very clean mix. For being "sickly and flat" your vocals are pretty good. They fit the song pretty well. This reminds me of something that would play on our local independent radio station KEXP as a "live in the studio" acoustic thing. I appreciate that you play and sing what will fit the song rather than trying to do anything super fancy and missing the point like a lot of folks. After awhile the song seems to go too long without going anywhere. But I liked it. Thanks for sharing.

yea, it is pretty boring and generic, music wise. I think I'm gonna re-record it........write a drum line instead of just a loop, add a bass, maybe some fills on guitar and harmonica. The main thing right now is figuring out how to give the tracks some personality. Having one mic is pretty lame. Also, I don't think this mic is very good for vocals. The vocals will not cut through so I had to raise the volume of the vocal track. I'm betting that's because the guitars were recording through the same mic.

You rock, man. This is good stuff. I know this is kind of a cheesy song, but it takes some talent to pull something like this off. Nicely done! I'm sure your friend got a kick out of it.

And I thought Napoleon hunted wolverines with a 12 guage. . . but what would you do in a situation like that!?

By the way, what do ya wanna bet I can throw a football over them mountains?

thanks much for the comments. it actually came out pretty easy. i just opened up notepad, picked up my guitar, and started pecking it out. it took about 1 1/2 hours to write.......including frequent pm's through yahoo messenger from my mom, oh god help me......woman is computer illiterate. The funny thing is, I don't think he has heard it yet. His media player was giving him some problems last I talked to him....he's also computer illiterate. I wish my regular stuff would come this easy.

by the way......."I think I'm gonna build her a cake".

lol...So the MXL 990 sux? I was reading on the mic forum that the Shure SM-57 is as good if not better then some condensers. Try lookin into to those. GL, HF.

Guess I'll follow the trend :P.

I don't know. If he used the 990 on the acoustic here, I think he got a damn good tone (especially considering it's a $60 mic). The vocals don't sound bad, either. They could use a touch of reverb, but the sound is decent.

Funny song, too.

I wrote a funny song about road construction one time and how much it pisses me off. Not quite as good as this one, though.

"Aren't you good at drawing pictures and stuff?"
". . .yeah, pretty much the best that I know of. . ."

"There's more where that came from. . ."
"It took me like 4 hours to do the shading on your upper lip. . ."
"K-Bye"

Sorry, couldn't resist.

"Napoleon, don't be mad just because I get to sit all day and chat with hot babes"

"I'm training to be a cage fighter"

"Pedro offers you his protection"

Now what was this thread about...

"Since when, Kip? You have the worst reflexes of all time."

"I see you're drinking 1%. Is that 'cause you think you're fat? 'Cause you're not. You could be drinking whole if you wanted to."

"I'm Rex, founder of the Rex Kwan Do self-defense system! After one week with me in my dojo, you'll be prepared to defend yourself with the strength of a grizzly, the reflexes of a puma, and the wisdom of a man."

"You know, like nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, computer hacking skills... Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills."

"There's all kinds of gangs in this school... they kept wanting me to join because I'm pretty good with a bo-staff..."

This is truly great! I love the sense of humor in this and the sound of the recording is good to my ears (this from a total amateur). Listening to this I get the feeling of just a good friend, strumming and singing me a nice tune, and making me feel comfy.

You should put this on a CD and send it to him.

Hmm, sellin cd's for 3 bucks? Wouldn't hurt you to contact him and judge for yourself. "Major Label" is over doing it. But, wtf you have a site? I didn't know this? GL, HF.

BTW? You are using the 990 right?

If I have a site, I did'nt know about it. Maybe I should ask him the address? lol. I have a page on soundclick with some half ass ghetto recordings, that's it.

I listened to some of the tunes on that statue records website..... when I do actually get some decent tunes put together, I don't think I wanna be on the same label with any of those artists/bands. It was pretty dull stuff if you ask me. Do they actually sell that stuff?

Yes, the mic is the 990. I think I'm ordering a Delta 44 sound card this week. I'm hoping that mic sounds better through it. If not, a new mic will be next.

Unless you can verify what he is saying, don't mess with it. He may just be spamming you. Check into it with the BBB (Better Business Bureau), to make sure it's legit. Any Fucktard with decent computer skills can create a legit looking website....

fucktard......I'm starting to like that word, lol. yea, that guy sounds like a fucktard to me.

ha ha.....Living In Alaska made it to 42 on the Indie charts of Soundclick.
