I've been trying to learn slide guitar and wrote this tune to use my newfound "technique" !It's a pretty simple tune and the vocals are pretty lame...I am working on redoing them.Any ways was wondering if the slide part is overdone on this as I kinda tend to overplay when I learn a new style technique.

EZ Come EZ Go

All feedback/critiques welcomed!

I downloaded the mp3 file, and when I played it, it sounded as though it were 1/4 speed or something. It said the song was 4:48. Is that how long it is?

nice song

I love it ... love the slide guitar ...i wish i could get my mixes to fit so neatly together....but then again i can't expect much with the crappy mics i use ... love the way u can easily make out the bass and the kick drum ...sounds really professional

Thanks! I'm just doing the 1 man band thing for fun so its cool when somebody likes your songs.Im really digging the slide and using the new Line 6 Variax/workbench software, you can create open tunings and store them in your guitar and they are accessible with the flick of a switch, without having to touch your tuners!I thought that was way cool and has opened up some new creative things for me.Thanks again for listening!

Well, something must have been wrong with the mp3 player then, because this didn't even sound like music. It just sounded like long groaning noises. I was on my wife's computer, and hers is weird. I'll download it again from mine this time and give it another listen.

Could be, or maybe it's my slide guitar playing ;) ...sounds like something my wife would say about it as I've been driving her crazy latley while practicing with the slide :D !
Let me know if you get it to work.

Ok yeah it worked this time. The slide sounds great--nice tone. The overall vibe of the song has that Stones feel, so good job. The vocals sound a little like Axel Rose! :o

Anyway, I don't think the slide is too much. I would just say maybe try to balance all the slid chords with maybe a few single-note slide riffs.

Thanks Beagle!Yeah,A couple of other people who heard the tune mentioned the same thing as far as more single note lines with the slide...it's just still pretty hard for me to mute the unplayed strings, but I'm working on it....the guitar I'm using has kinda low action as well which makes it tough for slide as well. Thanks for taking the time to check out my song,I appreciate the feedback!

Are you playing with a pick or with your fingers?

You'll find you have much more control if you use your fingers with a slide. As far as muting, the palm should cover the low strings, and the other fingers (that aren't playing) should mute the higher strings.

(If this is all old news to you, forgive me. I'd thought I'd throw it out there just in case you didn't know.)

And yeah you're right about the low action. It does make it harder. That's definitely why most slide players have guitars set up specifically for that.

Thanks Beagle..Iv'e been using my palm on the strings by the bridge, but having a hard time with the ones behind the slide...they seem to just kinda fly around.I use the slide on my pinky and its a glass one thats kinda big, think I need one that fits better.
I remixed this tune and kinda tamed the slide level a bit and brought the vox up a bit.I also un-muted some "la-la's" I had done for backing vocals.
Here is the updated mix if anyone is interested.
