Well as my title says im new, and that I have questions about reason

My first question is about midi.

I started off with fruityloops(now FL Studio) and I want to make a transition to Reason 3.0.

I started using both programs for about a couples months, just to see if i really wanted to switch, and i did.

Well, I wanted to start using reason, but i didnt want to leave me FLP files in the dust.

I tried turning the flp song into a midi file, then importing it into reason, but I dont know what program to connect the sounds to.

I dont know if it is the NN-XT or redrum. Im hoping to be able to put them on REDRUM.

Well thanx alot for the replies

If you could combine your three questions into one it would save energy --- yours, mine and ours.

?

lol Why in the hell would you transition from FL to Reason? Have you seen FL6? I dont think Reason can compare...

Ok, you need a midi primer first:

http://www.tweakheadz.com/how_to_get_started_with_midi.html

After you get a handle on that, this is what you need to do:

In FL, make sure each track is on its own midi channel (there has to be a way to do this, check your help file) and export it as a midi file. In reason, start a blank project and go to file/import/midi file and find the file you exported. It should now open a bunch of tracks in the sequencer window at the bottom, those tracks should correspond to the FL tracks except there will be no sound generators attach so you will need to assign reason instruments to those tracks (the little pull down menu on each track). Drum= redrum, synth=subtractor, samples=NNtx etc

You have to learn the basics first, my friend. Redrum is a virtual drum computer and does not compensate with MIDI. And plus, why would you want to turn the FLP song into MIDI files and use it in Reason? Why not just use Reason for the whole composition? After all, Reason is a 100% better software than FL, though it has an extensive learning curve.

I have both.

Reason is better.

And altitude 909, I'm not quite sure what this means either:

Maybe we could ask him, but I don't think it would do any good...

FL6 must be capable of a hell of alot more than I thought it was if Reason can't compare.
