I'm looking at adding a software sequencer to my analog based studio. I would want to be able to record MIDI performances (synths, Vdrums, etc) and then using my synchronizer, play them back synced to my tape. Any thoughts on which program to grab? Free is always nice. I just downloaded reaper, does this have this feature? Or should I get a hardware sequencer? (Note: I'm not looking for audio capabilities, just the MIDI stuff) thanks guys.

If you prefer to go analog, you might as well add a good hardware sequencer to your setup.
Make sure you've got a very good A/D converter if you were to record it on computer.

It's those tiny imperfections that makes analog sound organic and unique.
Software can be very good, too, but it's all "emulated".

Reaper will do MIDI sequencing.

I'm kinda curious how you are syncing your tape to your computer. SMPTE across a DIN connection?

Sorry for the late response. Yeah, I figure I'd use SMPTE across a MIDI connection. The PPS 100 can send MTC, DIN, ETC, all across a MIDI cable. So, yeah. I figured I'd just use a computer for the sequencing, not the recording. It's weird, I don't much like using computers to record, but I'm a little scared of a hardware sequencer. I don't know why. Anyway, thanks guys.
