Hello everyone from Laredo, TX.

Today, I purchased a Tascam DP-02CF. This is my first-ever recorder. I am 47 years old and I've never done this before so I am a bit nervous and overwhelmed.

Took me a while to figure out how to record a test track. I am reading and re-reading the manual over and over and slowly but surely, I am getting the hang of it.

This is so cool, I can't believe I didn't take this up earlier. I don't have any illusions of becoming another Alan Parsons or the like. I just want to experience the magic of putting tracks together. I've been reading the reviews and it seemed that the DP-02CF is a good choice for an entry-level multi-track recorder.

I also bought an 8GB compact flash drive. It is working good so far.

I look forward to reading and learning. Maybe someday I'll have a contribution or two to make. In the mean time, I'll try to do my homework before asking.

I am opened for any advice you can spare.

Thank you in advance.

Raul

That's awesome!!! I took a couple classes at my local community college when I first started. I know school isn't for everyone, but it was something like $50/credit hour and I learned a lot. As well, it put me in an environment where I was surrounded by other people that shared my excitement for music and recording.
Technology has both created an environment in music recording where wonderful works of art can be produced at your house and in your pajamas. As well though, it has contributed some to the homogeny of sounds and ideas on a lot of current recordings. Just keep your original vision in mind and you'll have something that is reflective and not just reactive.
Cheers and best of luck!

Good for you!

As a fellow 47 year old (at least for the next 14 days:() I am just finishing up several tracks on my DP02CD (I just purchased a 2488...the DP 02 is great, but I need more tracks). I hope it all works out for you and above all...HAVE FUN!

Hi Raul, welcome.

Another member of the 'senior recordists' club here; I am 48, and started back up with recording in 2001. I too have a 2488, but all the smaller digital machines are great fun too (I started with the 788, but, of course, after a while I ran out of tracks.)

Just keep at it, and I am sure you'll love recording on a regular basis; it gets pretty addictive :D
Any questions, just come back here, and we'll do what we can.

Best of luck with it,
C.
