Hey All,

I am new to the recording scene. A friend of mine owns a mic and I have done a few hip hop records with him. I would like to buy my own setup but have no idea where to look for a good product x price.

Again, I do mostly hiphop stuff. Im looking for a package that comes with all that it is needed for home recording: software/ mic and stand/ interface/ cables. Not looking to spend more than $350.

Any suggestions would be great.

thanks!

thanks jimmy. and If anyone has any links to recording packages around $300 that would be great

Don't get a package. Try this:

Emu 0404 USB interface ($200) - great preamps and converters
SM57 ($100) - good versatile mic
Nady pop filter ($20)
mic stand ($20)
mic cable ($20)
Reaper recording software - use for free and if you like it, buy it for $40.

This assumes you have a decent computer.

Dont buy anything knew unless you have experience because sometimes you may realize this isnt for you and by that time you have already spent a few bucks on good gear you probably wont use alot.
