Hey guys. I am new to recording and I want to get some gear so I can record my drums and make some music. There is some serious good info on this site! Cheers.

I am thinking of getting the Audix DP7. I have heard good things about this set. My idea is that I buy something decent straight up so I don't waste money in the long run.

Is this worth the 800 bucks or so?

I will also buy a Presonus Firestudio as my interface.

Thanks guys!!!

Simon

Hey Simon welcome to the site.

Have you checked the Sennheiser drum microphones?

G'day. Thank you moresound.

No I haven't checked them out. Which ones are you talking specifically?

As kits go, the Audix DP7 is excellent. In particular, the D6 for kick is my mic of choice, even when I go for "mix and match" on other mics. However, to get a good sound with a large set of individual mics, you'd spend far more than $800.

I've recommended the Audix kits before and, so far, everybody is happy with the results. Some of the earlier series had slight problems with the mounting hardware but, since they came out with the DP series (the old ones were just D--confusingly with individual mics having similar numbers) even this has been greately improved.

Take this as a "yes" vote from me.

Evolution ..... e series. There is the e600 series and the slightly more expensive e900 series.

HERE is a link. All of these microphones can be purchased separately if you choose.

And of course prices will be dictated by which country you live in.

Then you can save money by purchasing use.

My big favorite with Sennheiser is that they come with a no questions asked 10 year warranty!!!
