hey guys,

i've always recorded everything in anolog, and i just bought a dm5pro drum kit, since it only has 2 stereo outputs i wont be able to have each drum or cymbal show up as 1 track each, i read that if i use midi i can achieve this. can someone help me out with exactly how to do this

here is my setup:

Alesis dm5 pro drum kit
Presonus Firepod
Cubase SX3

how do i connect it to the firepod.. midi out from the dm5 pro to the midi in on the firepod? how do i set it up in cubase and in my firepod control panel.

thanks so much.

No you cannot. Midi only transmits note data, not sound. What you could do is record your drum track as midi drum track, then just solo each instrument and record the audio as a new audio track for each instrument
