Hey guys, this is a simple home recording I did, which I did using 4 microphones to choose from (and using all of them to record the drums). Any feedback would be much appreciated. Cheers

Wow that's a pretty fresh guitar riff you got going right there! Nice solo too!

Cheers dude, any ways you could help me improve my general recording skills. Here is another one of our tracks that I recorded at the same time :)

Well for the first song, I think there could be a little better definition in the lows among the instruments! It still sounds good regardless, and if that's the sound you're going for, keep it! Did you do much eq'ing on the instruments?

I did think that too, especially amongst the rhythm guitars, they dont have the power that I was looking for. I did do some eqing, but it was purely from looking at different internet sites and trying to do it as best I could.

Did you double-track the guitars? And how long have you been recording?

Yeah the guitars are doubled tracked, but panned hard right and left. We recorded in a studio once and that was the way the engineer did it. I haven't been recording long at all. That was the second track I've ever done.

Not too shabby my friend. Four mics on the drums? Sounds pretty good. What mics? How'd you place them?

I'm only 16, so I used the borrowed the only mics avaliable to me, which are at my school but I used the Glyn Johns method. An SM57 on the snair, and AKG D880 on the kick (which I had to because there was nothing suitable for a bass frequency, so just did the best with what I had) and 2 AKG 3000B's as the overheads. Any feedback on how to improve? :)
