Hello all new to the forum here and look forward to discussing ideas!!

I do have formal recording/engineering (post grad/cert) in a professional studio, but I have little experience with the home/comp way of recording.

I'm sure it won't be hard to work out my cob-webs :o Which leads me to a most likely silly question.....

I plan on buying the Tascam US-122 along with the DFH(Drum kit from hell) software. This will be used mainly for me to record guitar and of course drum tracks etc,but nothing on a "professional studio" level.

How hard/easy is it to use these programs in conjunction with one another? Fairly straight forward? I am a little picky with sound, but ease of use is also important.

Many thanks in advance,

Kyle.

You'll need a VSTi host for DFH, and I recommend you try Reaper.

It has a very cool way of hosting VSTfx and VSTi as well as other plugin formats, has both audio and midi tracks up the capacity of your computer for your guitar and DFH, is easy to learn and they give you a 30 day trial period to decide if it suits you before paying the $40 shareware fee.

You'll also need a midi controller and for your purposes I recommend MAudio's Axiom series because they have both drum pads and keys, which will come in handy if and when the seductive lure of expanding your setup grips you like a vise...

Thank you very much for the quick reply. I have begun to compile my list of things to grab.... :D
