Well Me and my lazy friend finally decided to record our songs, and maby put together a full band.

For a While now we just did minor recording's with Bass, Guitar, and Piano and used drum loops for add ins.

It is time we start to use real drums for our songs.

What would you feel is the best Sounding Drums for a starter, BUT we will eventually have a guy who knows a thing or 2 about drums playing them.

So I need something good that the experinced guys would like. At the same time not digging into my wallet to hard

Names of the product, prices, weather it is Electrical or not

Any help would be nice

Maximum budget? Style of music? Mainly studio, live, or both?

In a room

Budet around 1k

Style what ever we come up with at the time. More versitile set since we go threw phases with Punk, Jazz, Classical, Regee what ever we are in the modd for at that time

I have a Mapex pro M series. It set me back about 600, but it sounds pretty good for a cheapie. I have compared it to many sets, the closest next best thing is the Pearl Masterworks. The secret to the drums is......... dont tell anyone I am telling you this...........it is in strict confidence................if this information gets out, it would be detremental to all drummers....................it is a closely gaurded secret..................

The secret is tunning!!!!!! You can take a $4000.00 kit, put crappy cheap heads on it, and not tune it properly, and it will sound like crap. Take a kiddie set from walmart, with good heads, and with proper tuning, it will be the warmest nicest tone. That is it my friend. I would look into used also. There are tons of kits on E-Bay, newspapers, garage sales, estate sales, music stores. My cousin saved a kit from the garbage. It was sitting with piles of trash on top by the end of the street. He nabbed it, cleaned it, sanded, repainted, put new heads, changed some rusted hardware. It sounds wonderful. The total cost.. about $40.00.
