Hi,
Am in the process of purchasing a new PC and thought It might be time for a change of Soundcard. I have used the Audiophile 24/96 with no problems for a number of years.
i feel now that i have reached a limit in terms of quality of sound from my recordings and most of that is on vox/guitars.
I have a limited budget alas and so my question is, is there a real discernable sound quality difference between my current card and something in the £300 bracket (say RME hammerfall) or would i be better looking at perhaps better mic preamps (currently using a mackie desk). I do realise there are other areas i need to look at (room treatment etc) and this will also be addressed in due course.
Any help much appreciated!
